About the project

Management application for remote device control

We started working  on the development of software for ticket machines and the application for remote management in 2019.

The aim of the project was to develop a complementary commercial product in the form of a Back Office application for managing ticket machines.

Further into the project, BoostHigh also engaged in programming directly on the hardware level of the ticket vending machine.

What were the main requirements?

Milestones that determined the success of the project

We were responsible for five main modules:

  • Back Office for remote management
  • Layout editor
  • Ticket editor
  • Ticket vending machine software
  • Integrations with third-party services

All of the implementations had been delivered on time and within the budget.

Main Features

Generating financial, sales and service reports

The basic function of the Back Office application is to generate financial and sales reports needed to document sales. All tickets sales are documented so that the accounting department can use the information for monthly summaries.

Ticket machine application update and maintenance

To facilitate maintenance, all customers have access to the individual devices status provided in the form of a list of faults and failures. A number of faults and errors can be identified and repaired remotely. Other errors can be analyzed by the system making fixing the defects much easier.

Ticket editor

Back Office allows you to remotely change the pricing and tariff. We have created a complementary editor for this function, which allows you to create new ticket views. They can be adapted to local events and differ in design.

Pricing and tariff management, edition and change of the tariff form

The ticket layout and pricing are often subject to change. The Back Office allows you to remotely edit the available layouts and add / remove tickets. All changes can be preset so that the changes are published on a specific date and time.

View editor for ticket machine layout

The biggest feature available from the Back Office level is the editor that allows you to create and edit the view available on the ticket machine.

Thanks to this, the customer can easily add, remove and edit elements visible on the ticket machine screen.

Integration with the vehicle’s computer

Some of the functions of the ticket machines require information obtained from the vehicle’s computer. Data such as the number of the bus line and the name of the stop are used to generate detailed financial data.

Team

Team setup that determined the success of the project

BoostHigh has created a team consisting of:

  • 2 full stack developers
  • 1 front-end developer
  • 1 database developer
  • Project Manager

In this team setup we were able to manage the entire project effectively and create a software for ticket machines.
